The rumored wait for the MacBook Pro 2021 may soon be over, as both the 14-inch and 16-inch models are expected to make an appearance during the next Apple event, which is said to take place this month.

This is according to reliable Apple informant Mark Gurman, who claims in his latest Power-On newsletter that the MacBook Pro 2021 model "should still be available in a few weeks."

Last year's Mac event was held in November, but Apple's past track record shows that similar Mac-focused announcements have typically taken place in October. Apart from the purported release date, Gurman also discussed the M1X chip that is rumored to be included in the new MacBook Pro model, which, according to Gurman, is expected to be "a more graphics-intensive, professional-focused M1 chip. Two variants are being developed. Both feature 10 CPU cores (8 high-performance and 2 high-efficiency) and either 16 or 32 graphics cores.

Gurman claims that the M1X could also be found in Apple's new Mac mini, a possible new compact desktop machine. Gurman, however, has not indicated whether the Mac mini is scheduled to be announced along with the MacBook Pro model.

Gurman's claims stack up next to other MacBook Pro-related reports we have covered previously. One of the most recent rumors hinted that the MacBook Pro 2021 model might see a significant performance boost when not connected to a power adapter, thanks to a "high-power mode" found in the latest macOS Monterey beta 8.

Earlier macOS Monterey beta 7 also seems to have revealed the display resolution of potential 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models, hinting at a higher pixel density that may improve overall display quality .

Reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo previously claimed that "the new model will cancel the curved design of the top and bottom parts of the existing model and adopt a flat edge form factor design similar to the iPhone 12." According to Kuo, MagSafe support and the return of an SD card reader and HDMI port may also be in the works.
