Don't want to work out like Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson? We don't blame you. How about wearing his headphones instead, JBL and Under Armour have announced the latest headphones in their Project Rock line. Sweat-resistant, with 45 hours of battery life and adaptive noise cancellation, they can drown out even the most annoying gym soundtrack.
Like its predecessor, this over-the-ear training headphone is designed to minimize distractions at the gym; it is IPX-4 rated and can withstand splashes and heavy sweating. It also features a "TalkThru" feature, which allows users to lower the music level to ask someone if they are done with the dumbbells without shouting.
The UA Project Rock over-ear training headphones are available now from JBL and Under Armour for $299.
The workout headphones feature "adaptive noise canceling" for those moments when you really want to focus during your workout. The Project Rock headphones also feature "Ambient Aware technology," which means they don't block out all the ambient noise when you walk home from the gym.
Aside from the technology, the headphones' ear cushions are worth mentioning. They are made of Under Armour's SuperVent fabric, which is breathable and quick-drying. The headband is also made of UA's Storm SuperGrip material, which is designed to keep the headphones in place even when moving.
As for battery life, JBL promises up to 45 hours. Like some of the best over-ear headphones on the market, there is also a speed charge feature that allows for 2 hours of playback in 5 minutes.
According to Pascal Van Laere, vice president and general manager of headphones and wearables at HARMAN, the headphones are "fine-tuned to Dwayne Johnson's audio preferences," so even if you can't lift like a rock, you can still can hear as well as he does.
