"Cobra Kai" star Ralph Macchio revealed that the show references one of the most popular sitcoms: "Cobra Kai" Season 2 [In "Cobra Kai" Season 4, Daniel Larusso (Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) have put their decades-long rivalry and join forces with John Crease, Terry Silver, and the Cobra Kai gang. This comes just as the Daniel-San and Johnny dynamic continues through a sort of "will they or won't" mold regarding the possibility of friendship.
And Macchio is excited about the possibility of a true friendship.
Macchio revealed this detail to Deadline, saying, "What I'm most looking forward to with Daniel and Johnny is the challenge." He continued, "Navigating their different personalities and stubborn mindsets as they work toward the same endgame." Their histories are nuanced and layered. While their intentions may be congruent, their wiring is very different."
[6And yes, the cast and crew recognize the "Friends"-like nature of the duo. Makio said, "Billy and I love to dive into rivalries as well as friendships. This is what (executive producer) Hayden Schlossberg always calls the Ross and Rachel element on our show. In Season 4, it not only adds to the drama, but it makes for great comedy." Expect more REO Speedwagon singing sessions in the car.
Despite what Makio says, the two are not that different. Johnny and Daniel just have different approaches to the sport. However, they agree on the need to keep Cleese away from the Cobra Kai dojo. They also have to deal with the sadistic Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffiths), the villain of "The Karate Kid Part III," although they don't know it yet. His return was teased in the recent "Cobra Kai" Season 4 teaser trailer.
