Garmin Dash Cam Mini 2 is here - and it's the size of a car key fob

Dash cams in cars are a good idea, and Garmin has announced four new models that may be strong contenders.

These new dash cams round out Garmin's existing line of cameras and are the first time the company has included connected features in all of its models. Here is what they include.

The Dash Cam Mini 2 is Garmin's small, unobtrusive camera, the same size as a car key fob. It has a full HD/1080p recording resolution and retails for $130. It does not have a built-in display. A highly durable microSD card is not included, so don't forget to purchase one.

The Dash Cam 47 offers 1080p video resolution, built-in GPS, a 2-inch rear display, and a 140-degree viewing angle. It is priced at $169.99 and comes pre-installed with a memory card.

The Dash Cam 57 offers 1440p resolution, built-in GPS, a 2-inch rear display, and the same 140-degree viewing angle as the 47. It is priced at $230 and comes pre-installed with a memory card.

The Dash Cam 67W offers the same 1440p resolution and GPS as the 57, but the viewing angle is increased to 180 degrees. It also has a 2-inch display, comes pre-installed with a memory card, and retails for $260.

Like a good dash cam, all four cameras record continuously and have automatic accident detection. Thus, in the event of an accident, there is no need to worry about handling the video evidence.

If you are looking for more high-tech options in your vehicle, Garmin seems to have its customers covered. The main feature worth noting is that each of the four cameras automatically stores recordings in Garmin's secure online vault. So if something happens to the car or camera, the footage is stored for 24 hours and can be accessed through the Garmin Drive app

If you need to keep recordings longer, you will need to subscribe to a subscription plan for Garmin's Vault storage. The standard subscription costs $5 per month and stores clips for 7 days. The Advanced plan stores clips for 30 days but costs $10 per month.

Each camera also includes a live view mode for real-time monitoring, a parking guard to alert you if something happens to your vehicle while parked, and voice control to access features without taking your hands off the steering wheel. Each dash cam is available in English, Spanish, German, French, Italian, and Swedish.

In addition, the 47, 57, and 67W dash cams also include Driver Alert, which alerts the driver of a potential forward collision or lane departure. This is useful for drivers who do not have newer vehicles with these features pre-installed. The Dashcam Mini 2 does not have this feature.

All four cameras are available now and can be purchased on Garmin's website.
