Forget Ps5 - Resident Evil Village looks stunning on PS4Pro

PS5 and Xbox Series X owners have a pretty good idea of what to expect from "Resident Evil 7: Resident Evil Village" by playing the teaser demo, but users of previous-generation hardware may need to be a bit more wary. If there's anything we've learned from the "Cyberpunk 2077" debacle, it's that some games just don't play brilliantly on last-gen hardware.

Thankfully, the game doesn't look like it will be an unpleasant surprise - at least on PS4 Pro. IGN's First Look has released a five-minute video of "Resident Evil 7: Resident Evil Village" played on Sony's souped-up PS4. You can watch the video below.

This is not surprising considering that "Resident Evil 7: Resident Evil" is one of the best looking games of the last generation. It plays perfectly well on the original PS4 and Xbox One (even though it could really shine with a rumored next-gen upgrade).

That said, given that the pre-release footage was limited to next-gen hardware, it's easy to worry that Capcom is hiding something. Thankfully, that doesn't seem to be the case - although, of course, the possibility remains that the game will look quite inferior on a PS4 base.

This is a big relief for those who have yet to get their hands on a PS5 or Xbox Series X due to the ongoing inventory shortage. Not only is the game likely to play perfectly well on previous generation hardware, but buyers are also promised free upgrades from PS4 to PS5 and Xbox One to Xbox Series X/S. This means that if you are lucky when the PS5 restocks, you should be able to start playing the game on your PS4 without having to worry about having to repurchase the game.

The May 7 release date for "Resident Evil 7: Resident Evil Village" is just a few days away, but fans eager to hear more about the game ahead of time will have a chance to do so. Capcom plans to showcase the game this month, and a longer, more representative demo is in the works, so before Xbox One and PS4 gamers part with their hard-earned cash, let's hope it's available on all formats so they can get the full experience on the last-gen hardware I hope.
