PS5 and PS4 owners rejoice! To keep gamers occupied while waiting for the COVID-19 pandemic, Sony has announced a new Play At Home title for PlayStation. Even more exciting, the 10 newest games are available for free download.
The Play at Home program launched in early March with a free digital copy of 2016's Ratchet & Clank for PS4 4 users. Sony announced yesterday (March 25) that it will begin offering new free games and additional benefits.
As part of this program, PlayStation has partnered with indie game partners such as Giant Squid Studios, Dodge Roll, and United Game Artists to offer a number of games for free, including Abzû, Enter the Gungeon," "Rez Infinite," "Subnautica," "The Witness," "Astro Bot Rescue Mission," "Moss," "Thumper," and "Paper Beast.
All of these titles are exciting in their own way, but two standouts stand out: the challenging rhythm-shooter-on-rails "Rez Infinite" and the breathtaking underwater adventure "Subnautica."
Rez Infinite is a big beats and electronica, and takes players on a journey through a digital world where they target and obliterate their enemies to the sound of beats and electronica. Each hit merges with the backing track to create a variety of melodies. In Subnautica, players crash-land on an alien marine world. Players explore various undersea structures, coral fields, and deep-sea trenches to find their way. The game is breathtaking and challenging at the same time, with a few horror elements sprinkled in.
First announced last April, Play At Home is PlayStation's effort to thank the console community by "giving something back." The program began with Journey and Uncharted: Play At Home, which offered both Journey and Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection to help people spend a little extra time at home. With each update, Sony adds a few free titles and lets you download and play as many as you like.
In addition to announcing downloads throughout the month, Sony provided a sneak peek of titles coming out in April: starting April 19, Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition will be available for free for a limited time from April 19 through May 14 at 8pm PT. It will be available for download. Aloy's story is an exciting open-world game, and a next-gen sequel, Horizon Forbidden West, is in the works, but unfortunately that entry is still quite a ways off. Nevertheless, this is a great time to jump in and catch up.
With so many games on offer, now is the perfect time to see if you can afford a PS5. Now is your chance, now is your chance, now is your chance, now is your chance, now is your chance to buy a PS5
However, if you are still working hard on your PS4, you can still enjoy all these titles. So have a good gaming life.
