I'm eagerly awaiting Season 3 of "The Boys," but I'm still scratching my head over the latest news about the season. So consider this a spoiler warning: if you haven't already, finish "The Boys" Season 2.
Remember how Season 2 of "The Boys" was brutally transformative and did not end well for Stormfront (Aya Cash)? Well, despite the fact that many of us at TG have given up on her, a recent panel suggested the possibility of the character's return.
Cash told "Entertainment Weekly" about the future of Stormfront, "I'd like to know if she's coming back, too. She added that she is not on the set of "The Boys" Season 3 and is instead filming another show called "This Country," so do not expect her to make a full-fledged appearance. However, she said, "My contract with 'The Boys' is only for one year, so who knows," adding, "Maybe they can do CGI on my face." Admittedly, this is a big if, but it seems like the most likely outcome.
The program has previously left open the possibility of Stormfront's return. Not only is she immortal, showrunner Eric Kripke said in an interview, "She's not dead. She's just a stump ... . Between the writers and talking to Aya, we said, 'Well, what's going to happen to Stumpfront? So we'll see.'"
The return of Stump, or Stormfront, makes some sense, as the show likes to keep characters who have been killed off in the show. Recall that Madeline Stillwell, played by Elizabeth Shue, returned to the series in Homelander's secret lair.
We don't know when "The Boys" Season 3 will return, but production has already begun. The first set photo, a large gold statue of Homelander, was posted by Kripki in February. Our guess is that Season 3 will debut in May or June 2022. There is also a spin-off show of "The Boys," which also has no release date, but could drop as early as the end of the year.
