Resident Evil Village Just gave a lifeline to Google Stadia

Capcom has announced that "Resident Evil 7: Resident Evil Village" will be available on Google Stadia on May 7, as well as on PS5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.

Google is offering a free Stadia Premiere kit with any pre-order of the Standard Edition ($60) or Deluxe Edition ($70) of "Resident Evil 7: Resident Evil Village". The promotion also includes free standard shipping!

Purchasing Resident Evil Village will give you access to Resident Evil Rebirth: Verse, the multiplayer beta, Mr. Raccoon's Weapon Charm, and the Survival Resource Pack.

The Google Stadia Premiere kit will include a classic white Stadia controller and Chromecast Ultra, as well as a free one-month trial of the Stadia Pro subscription service for new users. Stadia Pro will allow users to stream matches in 4K and access the full collection of free games.

New subscribers to Stadia Pro will also have free access to "Resident Evil 7: Resident Evil Gold Edition" starting April 1. So there will be plenty of time to refresh their memories of the hero's previous adventures with the Baker family prior to the epic launch of the new game.

This is not the first time that Google has launched such a campaign. The company ran a similar campaign for those who pre-ordered "Cyberpunk 2077" and also offered free hardware and a free trial.

But this Resident Evil Village promotion appears to be a serious attempt to save Google's cloud gaming service. Now that Google's internal game development is dead, Google-made stadia games are officially off the table. Undoubtedly, this approach was not going to work.

However, if Google offers attractive prices and attractive bundles for Stadia, Stadia could find new life as a game streaming platform for major third-party games. Time will tell if that will happen.
