OnePlus9Pro Secret Weapon Revealed - and it blows the Galaxy S21Ultra

Given the plethora of leaked information about the OnePlus 9 that has emerged over the past few weeks, one might assume that all has already been revealed ahead of its March 23 launch. Apparently not; according to a new report from Pricebaba, the OnePlus 9 Pro has some amazing new features that should make a big difference for those looking to get rid of wires.

According to the site's source, trusted leaker Ishan Agarwal, the OnePlus 9 Pro will feature 50W wireless charging. This is a significant improvement over the 30W charging speed supported by the OnePlus 8 Pro, which already had the fastest wireless charging.

For reference, OnePlus had promised that at its previous highest value of 30W wireless charging, the OnePlus 8 Pro would charge from 0% to 50% in 29 minutes. It is not so easy to calculate a new estimated speed from there, but any improvement seems pretty impressive to us.

Of course, no model comes bundled with a wireless charger in the box; it appears that OnePlus will be releasing an updated version of the Warp Charge wireless charger with the OnePlus 9 Pro. No word yet on pricing, but the 30W version of the charger (currently sold out on the US site) sells for $69.95.

In comparison, Samsung's Galaxy S21 series only offers 15W wireless charging, while the iPhone 12 series offers 20W charging with Apple's own MagSafe charging. In fact, the S21's maximum wired charging output is 25W.

This is another piece of the puzzle, and we have a pretty good idea of what the OnePlus 9 Pro will offer. It will feature Qualcomm's Snapdragon 888 chip, a 6.7-inch 120Hz QHD+ screen, and a generous 4,500mAh battery, but perhaps the most exciting development will be in the area of photography.

CEO Pete Lau recently shared the OnePlus 9's biggest camera improvements, thanks to a new partnership with Swedish camera maker Hasselblad and the onboard Sony IMX789 sensor. Expect upgrades such as color depth, improved lighting, professional calibration, and 4K video at 120 fps.

Of course, it's easy to talk about these things in advance; we won't know how well the OnePlus 9 Pro will perform until we get our hands on a review unit. Fortunately, that's not far off: OnePlus has announced that it will unveil the new handset at a special event on March 23. Be sure to check it out then.
