Google has fixed the most annoying thing about Gmail — and it's hitting Android in the first place

Gmail users on Android devices have long struggled to copy and paste email addresses. Whether it's frustratingly odd design decisions or the difficulty of what should be a simple task, it's a major drawback to what is otherwise one of the best email apps, Gmail.

However, Google seems to be turning its hand to solving these copy-and-paste woes, and according to Android Police, Gmail has introduced a new pop-up menu that makes copying and pasting email addresses easier.

Specifically, tapping an email address in the To, Cc, or Bcc field will bring up a new notification. A larger, more functional contact card appears, which can be manipulated in a variety of ways, including copying text, adding information, and other tasks.

This new feature already looks leagues better than the mini-window that could previously be opened with the copy option. It worked well enough to call it a solution, but it often hid important text below the box.

Unfortunately, this feature is not yet widely available. Several users have discovered the new menu on their devices, but not all have been exposed to it. Google has not yet adopted this feature as a measure to make it widely available to all Android users, but that does not mean it will not happen.

Currently, according to 9to5Google, the new pop-up menu has been seen on some devices running Gmail for Android v2021.02.05.357775197. However, it may be some time before this feature is available on your phone. With this improvement, Gmail's position will undoubtedly be one of the best ever when it comes to on-the-go communication.
