New 4K screenshots of "Halo Infinite" have been released, revealing that the game looks more like the flagship title of the Xbox Series X than last year.
Developer 343 Industries posted a number of screenshots taken at 4K resolution on its Halo Waypoint blog, revealing that "Halo Infinite" has evolved significantly visually since the first game footage released last July. The delay of the "Halo Infinite" release date from an Xbox Series X launch game to a "Fall 2021" release clearly had a significant effect.
When we first saw "Halo Infinite" in person, we, and others on the Internet, were a bit disappointed in the overall look of the game. It looked okay in motion, but in screenshots and slow footage, it didn't really look like it was pushing the Xbox Series X's 12 teraflops of graphics power.
There was no ray-tracing aspect, the visuals were not super-clear, and the rather plain appearance of the brute characters (which quickly became the "Craig" meme) left something to be desired. So it looks like 343 Industries is back to square one,
although they did not explicitly state that this was due to the less than stellar reception of "Halo Infinite."
Rather, 343 stated that they intended to put more polish on "Halo Infinite". And it appears that they did.
These screenshots were taken on a PC, so we don't know how close they are to the Series X's "Halo Infinite,"
but as a 4K gaming machine, the Xbox Series X will be able to bring "Halo Infinite" to ultra high-definition TVs It will do a good job of projecting "Halo Infinite" on ultra-high definition televisions.
Environmental detail has been greatly improved, and at least one shot appears to use ray tracing.
I'm not convinced by the iconic Warthog design, but otherwise, these screenshots show how "Halo Infinite" embraces the cleaner aesthetic of the art style found in at least the earlier "Halo" games
The Xbox series is a great example of this. It will be played on the Xbox Series X.
Of course, getting your hands on Microsoft's new console won't be easy.
