The list of the best shows and movies on Apple TV Plus is about to get even longer. At Sundance and this winter's Television Critics Association press tour, Apple gave the media a better look at the product Apple is trying to offer.

All of this is an update that Apple is emphasizing quality over quantity and that Ted Lasso Season 3 is not the only promising release on the Apple TV Plus calendar. From a "Succession"-style drama film starring Sebastian Stan, Julianne Moore, and John Lithgow to a new show starring Billy Crudup, Jason Segel, and Connie Britton, the new year looks promising for Apple TV Plus.

So, without further ado, let's dive into the exciting list of new shows and movies coming to Apple TV Plus in 2023 (and help Apple TV Plus hold the #1 spot on the Best Streaming Services list).

Apple TV Plus' next highly anticipated show, "Shrinking," has a lot of talent in store. The series is created by Bill Lawrence (co-creator of the award-winning "Ted Lasso"), Brett Goldstein (Roy Kent, who also stars and writes "Ted Lasso"), and Jason Segel (who stars in the series).

Jimmy (Siegel) is a therapist who, while processing his grief, decides that the old rules of the game are outdated and should be discarded. While Jimmy tries to rewrite the rules at work, he also tries to apply the changes at home. Everyone, including his boss Paul (Harrison Ford), is unhappy about this.

Friday (January 27) Streaming

"Dear Edward" is an emotionally powerful series that reunites "Friday Night Lights" showrunner Jason Katims and star Connie Britton. An adaptation of Anne Napolitano's best-selling book of the same name, "Dear Edward" stars 12-year-old Edward (newcomer Colin O'Brien), the sole survivor of a flight that also had his family on board. The film also stars Taylor Schilling as well as Britton.

Streaming from February 3

We're already on board with its retro-futuristic drama Hello Tomorrow, as Apple has previously triumphed with another timeline. Something seems to be lurking beneath the floorboards of Jack (Billy Crudup), a workaholic salesman. One of his sales pitches is to convince people that they should move to the moon. Co-starring Honeyfa Wood, Allison Pill, Nicholas Podany, and others.

Apple TV Plus' musical comedy "Shmigadoon" - in which Josh (Keegan-Michael Key) and Melissa (Cecily Strong) are stuck in a golden age musical until they find true love stuck - is back. The setting is Chicago. Or rather, as you can see, it's Schmichago, a world inspired by the musicals of the '60s and '70s, where first season favorites like Ariana DeBose, Martin Short, Dub Cameron, Jamie Camil, Kristin Chenoweth, and Alan Cumming Popular names remain intact, with Tituss Burgess and Patrick Page joining the cast. Co-creator and executive producer Cinco Paul will provide all new original music.

The Afterparty will be followed by ...... Another Afterparty. Yes, Apple TV's genre-defying take on "Rashomon" is back with a new awkward situation for Anique (Sam Richardson) and Zoë (Zoë Chao). Fortunately, Detective Danner (Tiffany Haddish) is also returning, so she'll be able to cross Sam's name off the list early (unlike last time). The after-party is like what would happen if "Knives Out" had a large cast of regulars, with witnesses and suspects each telling their side of the story with their own flair. One week it's a musical, the next a fast and furious action movie.

"Ted Rathbone" Season 3, in case you didn't know, is essentially the conclusion of a trilogy. But while the series was planned from the beginning to go in a certain direction, the series about a hilarious American football coach (Jason Sudeikis) is not going in the direction that the titular coach would have liked.

Indeed, in Season 2, he was able to get the fictional English Premier League team AFC Richmond out of the relegation zone and chase the Cup, but at the cost of his current assistant coach Nate (Nick Mohamed) betraying him and Rupert Mannion ( Anthony Head) to join forces with him. (What is happening to Roy and Keely, Sam and Rebecca?) In Ted Rathbone Season 3, Ted will be looking to win and repair his fissured friendship with Nate.

Sometimes all you need is a good lead and a good premise, as is (presumably) the case with "The Big Door Prize," a new comedy from David West Reed of Schitt'sCreek. The series, starring Chris O'Dowd (Bridesmaids), is based on the novel by M.O. Walsh and argues that a machine in a small town can teach the townspeople their true potential.

Streaming Spring 2023

Everyone wants in on the succession game, and "Sharper" looks like Apple's attempt at a feature film. With a stellar cast led by John Lithgow, Julianne Moore, and Sebastian Stan, "Sharper" gives audiences a look at all the family drama that goes on behind the scenes in New York City's upper class. And it all revolves around Max (Stan), a con man.

Streaming from February 10

Actor Michael J. Fox has been the face of this brain disease that causes tremors, stiffness, and loss of body control since he was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease at age 29. Davis Guggenheim's documentary on Fox's life will be available on Apple TV Plus in 2023, giving audiences a closer look at his life than they have ever seen before. Early reports from Sundance (open in new tab) indicate that Michael J. Fox delivers an honest and funny performance that makes you want to root for him.
