The Moto G53 and G73 specs have just been leaked — here's what to expect

New details of Motorola's upcoming Android handsets have been revealed. The first Moto G53 and G73 renderings and detailed spec lists suggest that these updates to Motorola's Moto G series are not a radical departure from some of the best inexpensive phones on the market.

New leaked renderings and information (thanks to The Tech Outlook) indicate that the G53 and G73 are very similar devices with nearly identical designs; the G53 (which is expected to be the cheaper of the two) measures 162.7 x 74.66 x 8.19 mm, and is reported to be slightly larger, but both devices should have similar specs and 6.5-inch screens.

Interestingly, the G73 in particular seems to offer a quiet and impressive gaming setup; only the G73 has a 1080p display (the G53 is 720p), but both have 120HZ refresh rates and dedicated optimized performance and minimal overheating for gaming mode

; the G73 will likely feature the MediaTek Dimensity 930 chipset. The less expensive G53 is expected to feature a Snapdragon 480+ chip.

Battery life is a strong point of the Moto G series, and this is likely to continue with a 5,000 mAh capacity for both models. However, those who like fast charging will be disappointed to learn that only the G73 is said to have a 30W charging capability.

One of the most disappointing features of the Moto G 5G was the camera, but leaked specs indicate that both models will return a 50MP rear camera. The good news is that the G73 will feature a selfie camera upgraded from 13MP to 16MP and an 8MP secondary rear shooter. Of course, megapixels are not everything, and we expect to see improved camera performance in both the G73 and G53.

Critically important for the competitive budget phone market, there is no mention in these latest leaks of expected pricing or tentative release dates for these phones. If Motorola wants to compete with the iPhone SE, Pixel 6a, and others, the G73 will need to be under $500. Of course, all of this information should be viewed with a degree of skepticism, but The Tech Outlook has a pretty good pedigree in this area and accurately predicted Lenovo Motorola's ThinkPhone design.
