7 Best TV Shows - Watch Summer on Netflix, Max, Hulu and Prime Video

Summer is the perfect time to watch the best TV shows. Especially on vacations when the weather turns bad and your hotel room is your only respite. (If you're like me, you just need to have one of the best streaming devices available.)

We thought it was time to take a look at the best shows to fill our summer time. Sure, TV seasons aren't what they used to be, and shows like "The Bear" Season 2 will debut soon, but the warmer months always seem to bring more time to binge watch TV.

My selection included several shows that I fast-forwarded to catch up on the final on-air episodes. As a result, I can personally attest to how enjoyable it is to watch without a break.

To all you AMC-less cord-cutters, and to all of you who said "yes" when I recommended "Better Call Saul" for the past eight years, your excuses end there. All episodes of "Better Call Saul," one of the best TV shows of the past decade and the best show that lasted more than four seasons, are finally available for streaming on Netflix.

BCS is strictly a prequel to Breaking Bad (another of Netflix's best shows), but it is a truly great show in its own right: throughout its six seasons, attorney Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk) is the most popular lawyer in Albuquerque, Saul Goodman, and follows his journey to becoming an all-criminal. Along the way, he has hard times with his troubled genius brother (Michael McKean) and close friend Kim Wexler (Leah Seehorn).

With one episode a night, "Better Call Saul" could take up your entire June and July. Frankly, it doesn't matter if you watch "Soul" before or after "Breaking Bad. Just watch it already. Odenkirk, McKean, and Seahorn all give top-notch performances, and there is not a wasted scene in the plot of each season.

"King of the Hill" is one of those shows that failed to reach its full potential because "The Simpsons" overshadowed it in a big way. Now, it can be watched again, as Hill family patriarch Hank (voiced by Mike Judge) believes that the cherished propane should be seen for what it is alone.

For 13 seasons, KotH has chronicled the misadventures of the Hill family in suburban Arlen, Texas. Hank's well-meaning wife Peggy (Kathy Najimy) is always getting into some kind of trouble. And the often misunderstood Bobby (Pamela Adlon) inadvertently keeps teaching her father life lessons.

Arlen may not be as famous as Springfield from "The Simpsons," but he is filled with just as many funny characters. Peggy's niece, the naive and lovable Luanne (Brittany Murphy), would be a favorite. Hank's way of thinking may be exceptionally old-fashioned compared to today.

Nothing says summer like baseball.

When you want to watch a show in a day, the first season of Prime Video's "A League of Their Own" is a surprisingly easy series to finish watching. The series, a re-imagining of the classic film, does more than just put women on the baseball field. It also addresses life as a closeted queer athlete and the color barrier that segregated black men and women into their respective leagues.

And it begins with Carson Shaw (Abby Jacobson) breaking out of her small-town rut to try out for the burgeoning National Women's Professional Baseball League in Chicago. There she meets a group of other women, including a new friend. But their coach (Nick Offerman) doesn't seem like a true ally, and the women are left to fend for themselves.

A shortened second and final season is set.

You've already watched "Succession" Season 4 now. Good, you now have a great reason to watch it all again. New HBO's Max delivers a new 4K enhanced version of Succession seasons 1-3, with season 4 arriving on June 30.

If you have not yet seen Succession. Well, here's something you haven't heard yet: Succession has been a huge success in the television world due to its virtually flawless final season. Unlike "Game of Thrones," "Succession" has been beloved throughout its run because viewers loved to hate the Roy family, which was loosely modeled after the Murdochs and other family empires.

Brian Cox gives an excellent performance as the aging patriarch Logan. His alpha male wanna-be sons Kendall (Jeremy Strong) and Roman (Kieran Culkin) fight over the throne, and Shiv (Sarah Snook) is trying to be treated decently in this boys' club world. Boyfriend Tom (Matthew McFadyen) is too busy messing with his young, pliable cousin Greg (Nicholas Brown) to be taken seriously.

"Lost," the story of Oceanic Flight 815 and its passengers, set a trend in television and set the trajectory for the mystery box shows that followed. These shows kept viewers coming back week after week for the latest clues and answers, but often yielded more new questions than solutions.

In "Lost," viewers needed to know not only why Oceanic Flight 815 crash-landed on an island, but also why there were polar bears in that tropical paradise. The film then delved deeper based on numerical clues that tied the characters together. That was before we understood about the smoke monster and the hatch. Or how in the world John Locke survived ....... I won't spoil it for you.

Fortunately, every episode of "Lost" is available right now, so you can keep watching episode after episode; there are 121 episodes, so if you watch one episode a night, you could fill up an entire summer.

One of the best comedy shows that felt like one cohesive story from premiere to finale, The Good Place is a great summer watch. That's because while sitcoms are often stretched as far as they can be stretched thanks to their pliable structure, the story of Eleanor Shellstrop (Kristen Bell) and her journey to the afterlife is very different.

After her death, Eleanor awakens in a magical land called the Good Place and quickly realizes that something is wrong. Not only does she look and feel strange, but the other people there are a bit odd as well. Even as her guide Michael (Ted Danson) explains the rules of the Good Place, Eleanor only becomes more and more doubtful.

Besides. The Good Place is the most philosophical of shows, yet it is also full of humor and jokes. Like a book read on the beach, "The Good Place" makes you feel like you haven't wasted your time.

When we polled the TG team, there was a big call for "Justified" to be on this list FX's western crime drama stars Elmore Leonard Raylan Givens (Timothy Olyphant), is modeled on the character of Raylan Givens. It annoys his bosses and complicates his job.

Justified's second, fourth, and sixth seasons all received 100% perfect scores on Rotten Tomatoes. The second season, which focused on the criminal activities of Mags Bennett (Margo Martindale) and her three sons, is considered a prime example of peak TV.
