Recent rumors claim that Apple may resize the iPhone 16 to offer a larger screen than we expect in the iPhone 15 later this year. Recent rumors suggest that this size increase could be a Pro-only change, and a new CAD model may reveal what the larger screen will look like.

The CAD model image comes courtesy of 9to5Mac and shows the new iPhone 16 Pro Max (called the iPhone 16 Ultra), which is larger than the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Or at least what we expect the iPhone 15 Pro Max to look like.

The CAD shows a 6.9-inch display, as previously rumored, which may not seem much larger than the 6.7-inch display on the iPhone 15 Pro Max and its predecessor, but the image depict a slightly different image.

While the width appears to be almost the same, the phone is noticeably taller. Apparently, 5 mm (0.19") in height and 0.5 mm (0.019") in width have been added. So while the feeling of holding the phone should be the same as before, the increased height will likely be unpopular with those who already have trouble using larger phones.

These images do not show the iPhone 16 Pro, but growth here is also expected to accelerate during 2024. Apparently, the Pro's display will expand from 6.1" to 6.3" next year. But this change is not merely an increase in screen space.

The additional space from this size increase is said to help make room for a periscope telephoto camera. iPhone 15 Pro Max is expected to receive its upgrade this year, but apparently the iPhone 15 Pro is too small to accommodate the necessary It apparently can't fit all of its components.

Of course, it has only been a few months since the iPhone 15 was released, so it is incredibly early to hear rumors of an iPhone 16. Things could easily change over the next 16 months or so, and this early scoop could prove to be downright wrong. We won't know for a while.

However, that won't stop rumors from surfacing online. We have already heard that the standard iPhone 16 could opt for a vertical camera arrangement instead of the diagonal used in the iPhone 13 and iPhone 14. It is also possible that the iPhone 16 Pro series will have an Apple 5G modem, and the iPhone 16 Pro series is said to have Face ID under the display.
