Teasers for the OnePlus Nord 3 and several other new OnePlus devices have been posted on the company's website, showing some of the ways the new Nord will compete with the Google Pixel 7a and Samsung Galaxy A54.
In addition to the choice of specs, OnePlus notes that the new Nord device will be available on July 5. However, it seems we could see more information on July 1 to keep us up to date on the reveal.
Regarding specs, the OnePlus Nord 3 will feature a 6.74-inch display (listed as 17.12 cm on the page for some reason) with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The display is also flat, which is great for users who don't like curved edges on their smartphones. At this size, it is a size larger than comparable Samsung and Google phones, which, depending on your point of view, could be considered either a bargain or impractical.
On the other side of the phone is a 50MP camera with optical image stabilization, OnePlus says. The last phone in the family, the OnePlus Nord 2T, also had a 50MP OIS-enabled main camera, but OnePlus has updated the Nord 3's sensor for Sony's new IMX980 model, which is available on the Galaxy A54 and Pixel 7a respectively. OnePlus is hoping that this will bring improved photography that can compete with the 50MP and 64MP main snappers found in the Galaxy A54 and Pixel 7a, respectively.
The teaser page makes no mention of the Nord 3's other camera sensors. However, it appears that there will be two more cameras on the back and a mandatory selfie camera. These rear cameras will probably serve as an ultra-wide-angle and depth sensor, given the previous Nord.
Perhaps most importantly for OnePlus fans, a unique alert slider is coming to the Nord 3. This vibration/mute switch has been a staple feature on OnePlus phones, but not on some models like the OnePlus 10T and OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite, which is why OnePlus is making a big deal of it here.
The Nord 3 colors are also shown off. Tempest Gray and Misty Green, a typical gray/black and green combination for a OnePlus phone.
In addition to the Nord 3, OnePlus will also be showing off the even cheaper Nord CE 3 5G at the upcoming event. According to the teaser site, the phone will come in a blue colorway called Aqua Surge and will feature a Snapdragon 782G chipset and a 6.7-inch 120Hz screen.
There is also a new wireless earphone, the Nord Buds 2r. Available in deep gray and triple blue, they have 12.4mm dynamic drivers, dual microphones, and an AI smart phone that clarifies your voice during calls.
It won't be long before more details on these phones and earbuds are revealed, but already these phones are becoming a great new addition to the OnePlus Nord lineup. But for UK and European users, if the specs are solid and the price is right, they could challenge the best of Google and Samsung.
