IKEA launches home workout collection starting at $6.99.

Needless to say, building a home gym is expensive. Plus, if you're anything like me, you want your living room to look beautiful when you have visitors, even without dumbbells randomly placed under the couch.

With millions of people still choosing to work out at home, IKEA has jumped on the home gym trend and announced a line of exercise equipment that will be available in January 2024. I was lucky enough to get a peek at this collection, dubbed DAJLIEN, before its launch. Here are a few of the items that I find particularly noteworthy.

These little ring weights don't look like weights, but I like the circular design that looks nice to hold when doing side raises, squats, and lunge. The weights come in a pack of two, each weighing 7 lbs. [But if you're looking for a workout bench for presses or step-ups, it's a nice alternative to having ugly plastic equipment in your living room. When not in use, it doubles as a storage box for your workout equipment.

There are two types of exercise mats in this collection, and this is the larger of the two, which will come in handy for home workouts, from yoga to sweat-inducing HIIT sessions.

This little Bluetooth speaker can be moved around the house or hung on just about anything. It's also inexpensive, so you won't have to worry too much about leaving it in your gym bag after your workout is over.

Finally, it may not be as high-tech as some of the best running belts on the market, but it's big enough to hold a cell phone and has an extra pocket for your house keys so your phone won't get damaged on the move.

Prior to the launch, Sara Fager, a designer at IKEA in Sweden, said. "Not everyone feels safe going to the gym, and at home we often struggle with tight spaces and time constraints, so DAJLIEN was born out of a desire to find a smart solution to these constraints and help create a convenient and motivating place to exercise. The collection will be available online and in stores beginning January 2024.
